WHAT IS CBAM?
CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) is a carbon tax introduced by the EU to combat climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions globally. It entered into force on October 2023 Regulation (EU) 2023/956 and inspired by the principle of 'the polluters pay', targeting carbon intensive goods imported into the EU.
Our CBAM Preparation Activities
In order to support our EU partners in complying with the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, our company has taken several steps to improve emission transparency and data reliability throughout our production processes.
- Selected suppliers capable of providing reliable environmental and emission data.
- Conducted quarterly CBAM emission calculations during the transition period.
- Installed electricity meters to monitor production energy consumption.
- Worked with an external sustainability consultant for accurate CBAM calculations.
- Started an EPD study to assess and verify product environmental impacts.
The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism represents an important step in aligning global production with the climate policies of the European Union. As a manufacturer of steel road safety systems, our company is actively working to improve transparency regarding the embedded carbon content of our products. Through supplier engagement, improved energy monitoring, and structured emission calculations, we aim to support our EU partners in fulfilling their CBAM reporting obligations.
Highway guardrail is a passive safety system returning vehicles undesirably out of the way to the road for any reason.
Thanks to these systems, after the vehicles leaving the road collide with the highway guardrails installed at the required places along the road at a certain angle, the highway guardrail systems direct the driver and passengers back to the road without damaging the non-traffic off-road elements after the vehicles energy is dissipated.
Highway guardrails are used to minimize death, injury and property damage caused by accidents that may occur as a result of faulty actions of drivers and vehicles.
In our country, with the transition to Performance-based highway guardrail systems in line with EN 1317 standards in the European Union harmonization process, systems which are lighter but with a higher obstruction level and a narrower working range have started to be used.
Hot-dip galvanizing is the process of immersing steel in a kettle containing molten zinc. While in the kettle, the steel reacts with the molten zinc to form a metallurgical alloy coating that provides superior protection to the steel.
At the end of the process, the metal surface is covered with a micron level armor plate. This armor plate prevents the metal from rusting in many different atmospheric conditions. A hot-dip galvanized product can last for years without any maintenance or repair.
